Itinerary

Day 1-3 :
Cairo, Egypt

Begin your journey in Egypt’s bustling capital, Cairo. This vibrant city is full of cultural contrasts as a meeting point of ancient Pharaonic monuments and modern Egyptian enterprise. Feel a sense of childlike wonder as you enjoy a guided visit to the magnificent Pyramids of Giza, which are now the last standing of the Seven Wonders of the World. Continue to the acclaimed Egyptian Museum to trace the fascinating history of ancient Egypt through the museum’s staggering collection of 120,000 exhibits. Embrace local life and meet the traders who sell a colourful array of fabrics, spices and antiques in the labyrinth-like Khan-el-Khalili bazaar.

Day 3-4 :
Aswan, Egypt

Flying from Cairo to Aswan, enjoy a day exploring the highlights of this majestic city on the banks of the Nile which formed the southern frontier of ancient Egypt. Discover the Aswan High Dam, which was opened in 1970 for the dual purpose of generating hydroelectric power and controlling the annual Nile flood, thus providing protection to some of Egypt’s most important Pharaonic monuments. Explore one such monument – the Temple of Philae, built in dedication to the goddess Isis. Wander through this superb temple complex which was an important sacred site to the ancient Egyptians, Greeks and Romans. Uncover the mysteries of ancient Egyptian building methods at the Unfinished Obelisk, which remains in an incomplete state of construction in an ancient stone quarry. After a day of discovery, enjoy an afternoon sailing around the islands of Aswan on a traditional felucca boat.

Day 6-7 :
Cairo, Egypt

On your final morning in Luxor, ignite your inner archaeologist as you uncover the wonders of the Valley of the Kings, including a visit to Tutankhamun’s tomb. Onwards to the Valley of the Queens to marvel at the tomb of Nefertari, the first wife of Ramses II and explore the beautiful Temple of Hatshepsut which was carved into the base of a sheer cliff face. Complete your morning in the immense shadows of the two Colossi of Memnon statues, built in honour of Amenhotep III.

You will then be whisked by private transfer to the airport for your afternoon flight back to Cairo, with a quick overnight stay at Le Meridien Cairo Airport. The following day, your adventure continues in Jordan.

Day 7-9 :
Amman, Jordan

Upon arrival in Amman, check in for two nights at the luxurious Four Seasons Amman set in the prestigious neighbourhood of Abdoun. In the company of a knowledgeable local guide, discover Jordan’s bustling capital where ancient history meets modern Arabia. Learn about the city’s history and culture, stopping off to visit the dramatic Citadel home to the Byzantine Church, the Temple of Hercules and Ummayad Palace. Formerly part of the Roman Empire, delve into Jordan’s past with a visit to the magnificent Roman Amphitheatre. Continue north of the city to Jerash where you will find some of the best-preserved Roman ruins in the modern world. Stroll past Hadrian’s Arch, the Forum and the Corinthian columns of the Temple of Artemis. Afterwards you driver will return you to your hotel for a relaxing evening at your leisure, perhaps sampling Jordanian cuisine at a local restaurant.

Day 9-11 :
Wadi Mousa, Petra, Jordan

Today you will be driven by private transfer to Petra, stopping along the way to visit Madaba, home to the famed mosaic of St. George. You will also have the chance to visit the medieval Kerak Castle, with its impressive maze and passageways, and Mount Nebo where Moses was supposedly granted a view of the Holy Land before his death. Continue onwards to the awe-inspiring ruins of Petra, where a hidden canyon leads to incredible Nabataean temples carved into the famous rose-hued stone. Channel your inner Indiana Jones as you explore the key sites and hidden secrets of this UNESCO World Heritage Site. A walk up the 800 or so steps to the Monastery is certainly worth the effort, and there is plenty more to see throughout the site. Your local guide will be able to guide you through the Siq for that iconic first glimpse of the Treasury – the first historical building within Petra.

Day 11-12 :
Wadi Rum, Jordan

Depart on the short drive south from Petra to Wadi Rum, an other-worldly desert landscape renowned for its striking red and gold sand and intriguing rock formations. Begin your desert experience with a 4×4 jeep adventure with a local Bedouin, racing across a dramatic landscape immortalized in the Lawrence of Arabia movie. Enjoy a traditional Arabic dinner before spending the night in your own traditional Bedouin tent under the starry desert skies.

Final Days 12-14 :
Dead Sea, Jordan

End your epic journey through Egypt and Jordan on the shores of the Dead Sea. At 400-metres below sea level, it is the lowest inland point on Earth and has attracted visitors since the times of Herod the Great thanks to its mineral-rich waters. Completely unwind with two nights here, perhaps indulging in a spa treatment or floating in the salty water.
